My family is CRAZY!!! And hilarious! One of the things they like to do is misinform people about Kevin's future occupation. Again, before I got married, I lived in a home with my mom, two brothers, cousin, grandma, and occasionally an aunt or uncle (or two) depending on the rotation of those coming in from the Philippines. My grandma "Mamang" calls all the relatives in the Philippines everyday and many episodes from TFC "The Filipino Channel" play loudly from the living room. I'm also the only one who is a professing Christian, and it was a pretty strange thing for all of my family for me to stop being Catholic.
When the family first met Kevin, they asked him what he wanted to do as a permanent career. Kevin answered, "I want to teach the Bible!" He went into a description of how he wanted to teach high school kids in a high school setting and described his past experiences with Bible teachers. It was only until some family members started talking about Kevin that I realized they had misinterpreted what he said.
"So you are marrying a pastor huh???"
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT??????? I then talked to my mom and my grandma and explained that Kevin was not becoming a pastor. I also explained that becoming a pastor was an extremely high calling, and that Kevin didn't feel called to become one, and that it takes a special woman to marry a pastor and I definitely was not one of them! But...When 5 family members came from the Philippines a few months ago for the funeral of my grandpa, they still kept asking about Kevin becoming a pastor. I kept explaining he wasn't becoming a pastor and they kept laughing because my grandma, mom and dad had told the whole family that's what he was becoming. And they still didn't want to listen to me.
I visited my Mom's house again and Joshua told me that they had gone to the doctor's office and Mom had told the doctor her daughter had just gotten married to a pastor. And then she called her best friend in Australia and talked about all her wedding day disasters, and not once mentioned me or how happy she was for me. LOL!!!
My mom saw me today and the first words out of her mouth were, "Leigh Ann! You're here! Are you pregnant already???"
WE'VE ONLY BEEN MARRIED 2 WEEKS!!! So much commotion! I really missed my little brother Joshua "Big butt" though :) So weird seeing how the house is without me living in it.
