What's next?

I love this season of life that I am in with Kevin. We are young, happily married, and working full-time at jobs that we enjoy and can't complain about. We are relatively healthy, involved in a Biblically-sound church, and have wonderful friends and family. Above all that, we have a God who is faithful & sovereign & wonderful. God loves us so much & I am so aware of His grace in our lives. He is so good and sweet and loving. Life is just so full of surprises and while some are better than others, it's nice to know that everything happens for a reason. Often times if anybody asks about marriage, I can't help but praise this wonderful institution. Of course, things are not perfect, and we have our set of issues that God grants us grace daily to deal with, but I have SO much to be thankful for and I want to chronicle our happiness & struggles as much as I can. Kevin & I just turned 25 years-old recently. My friends and I joke that this is t...

blog 1...2...3...

Ever since I was a child, I loved keeping diaries. Writing was a therapy, an escape, a creative outlet which I enjoyed and found peace in doing. I was releasing my thoughts onto paper, and now because of technology, I release it onto the web. It's interesting to read my past blogs, specifically on this blogspot...my first blog "Love." started with me graduating from UCSB, and how much I looked forward to being married since I was a single lady (all the single ladies, all the single ladies...put yo' hands up!). I remember the burning desire inside of my heart to be a wife. Pouring hours and prayers into reading the Scriptures and fellow-shipping with other believers, what came out of my mouth was truly an overflow of my heart. I would ask every wife I knew what their experience was like, and more specifically, what their single life was like as they were basically being prepared for marriage. There's a popular (and very true saying) that a true reflection of your c...

baby talk

I'm at such a funny and exciting season of life (I feel like I ALWAYS say that! But I always mean it!!) There are so many things to look forward to, and we've got ourselves countless memories overflowing out of our pockets as a young married couple. Most recently, I had a hilarious Easter lunch with my two mothers-my momma and Kevin's mom. They are already so quirky in their own ways, but sometimes I feel like they are especially quirky. I'm not sure how the topic came up, but soon Kevin and I were being tag-teamed against: " Leigh, it's time for you to start being pregnant. Time is running out and you are getting old ." says my very concerned mother. "Yes, my dear, it only gets harder with each year!" says Kevin's mom. "Kevin and I want to wait a little bit later before we start trying though. Plus, we're only 24. And I have loans to pay off from school and Kevin wants to get a Masters degree. I also hope we can develop ...

Almost-Anniversary

In less than a month, Kevin and I will be celebrating our one year anniversary as a married couple! Praise the LORD! A lot of people have asked us how married life is, and almost instinctively we respond, "It's GREAT!" It's difficult to remember that before March 3, 2012, we lived separately as single individuals and that now, we are one. I can't imagine life without him. We are both pretty excited too, because since it's our anniversary we will be headed to Cabo, San Lucas in two weeks to lounge around at an all-inclusive family-resort (thank you, Travelzoo.com!) I can't wait to say "Adios, Amigos!" and say "Hola!" to everyone over there. So what has this year been like for me? Let me tell you-it's been a learning experience. I learned a lot about myself and about Kevin. Every couple has their own perks. Let me give you an example...for one, Kevin is very hairy. So our sink is almost always filled with beard or mustache hair. Our...
